Automated scans list known weaknesses, but they do not show which ones could actually be exploited, chained together and turned into business impact.

Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing (VAPT) combines automated scanning with manual testing, following recognised methods such as the OWASP Web Security Testing Guide, the OWASP API Security Top 10 and OWASP MASVS. VAPT reports are often needed for SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS and customer security reviews.

VAPT FAQs

What is the difference between a vulnerability assessment and a penetration test?

A vulnerability assessment identifies and rates known weaknesses, mostly with automated tools. A penetration test goes further: testers try to exploit weaknesses manually to show what an attacker could actually achieve.

How often should we run VAPT?

At least once a year and after significant changes to your applications or infrastructure. Some standards and customers set their own frequency; PCI DSS, for example, requires internal and external penetration testing at least annually.

Will testing disrupt our systems?

Scope, timing and testing limits are agreed in advance to keep risk low. Tests that could affect availability are only run with your explicit approval, often against a staging environment.
